Beddy visits… Sheffield

January 11th, 2012

Today I visited The Fire and Police Museum in Sheffield whilst out making deliveries. I came face to face with some of the most amazing emergency vehicles, and saw children taking a ride in the big red fire trucks. The firefighters and police gave us an insight into what they do day to day fighting fires and fighting crime!

Beddy visits… Southend-On-Sea

January 10th, 2012

Today I had some deliveries to make in Southend-on-Sea. This is a seaside town in Essex and it is home to the longest pier in the world.

I drove along the seafront to take a look at the Southend Pier, it was very impressive!

There were lots of amusements on the seafront including Peter Pan’s Playground, and the Sea-Life Adventure aquarium.

It was a cold January day today and the waves looked very big, but I think Southend will be very busy and a lot of fun in the summer.

Merry Christmas!

Beddy visits… St Pauls Cathedral

December 14th, 2011

Whilst driving through busy London today I saw St Pauls Cathedral which is one of London’s greatest landmarks. The Cathedral is 362 feet tall and for a long time was the tallest cathedral in the UK.

Though it was built in the 17th century, a large section of the Cathedral was rebuilt by Christopher Wren in 1666 after it burnt down in The Great Fire of London! However the Cathedral survived through The Blitz even when enemy bombers tried to target and destroy it.

Beddy visits… Yorkshire Sculpture Park

December 7th, 2011

Today Matty and I took a well earned rest from the hustle and bustle of the M1 and went to Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The park is a Country Estate which can be found in Bretton in West Yorkshire.

It is a beautiful place with the countryside and art sculptures, but also a place where Mum and Dad can have some lovely peace and quiet! The huge park stretches over 500 acres of countryside which was easy for us, but could you walk all around the entire park yourself?

Beddy visits… Holmfirth

December 2nd, 2011

Today Lily and I drove through the small town of Holmfirth in West Yorkshire on our way to Manchester.

Holmfirth holds various events throughout the year such as Holmfirth Food and Drink festival and Holmfirth Folk Festival. If you are hungry, the town is where Longley’s dairy products are made, products such as yoghurts, cheese, cream and ice cream.

In the centre of Holmfirth on a warm and sunny, or cold and rainy, day you can visit the Longley’s Ice Cream parlour which offer lots of different flavours of freshly made ice cream!  They looked delicious, what flavour ice cream would you have?

Beddy visits… Durham

November 24th, 2011

Today, on our way to Newcastle on our deliveries, we stopped off in Durham to have a relaxing break from the busy roads. This small, beautiful city used to have a landscape dominated by mines and was one of the UK’s largest producers of coal. Now, to celebrate this mining history every year the city is home to the Durham International Festival of Brass which started amongst miners and trade unionists in the 20th century.

The city also has various landmarks which are renowned across the world such as the Durham Cathedral which was the set for various scenes in the Harry Potter films!

Beddy visits… Magna Science Adventure Centre

November 17th, 2011

Today Beddy and I took a trip to The Magna Science Adventure Centre whilst delivering goods in Rotherham. We had fun discovering the four elements: earth, fire, water and air. We fired giant water cannons, boarded an airship and played in the UK’s largest outdoor water play area!

Beddy visits… The Hull Streetlife Museum

November 9th, 2011

Today Linqy and had some free time and visited The Streetlife Museum in Hull whilst making deliveries there. At the museum we stepped back in time to over 200 years ago to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the past. As young trucks, we found it really interesting to see how much transport has changed over the years.

Beddy visits… Whitby

November 3rd, 2011

Today I visited the home of Dracula, Whitby, which is a place near Scarborough.

The town holds many different festivals and events each year such as the Whitby Regatta which each team wants to win.

While I was there it was the Whitby Folk Week and there were many different folk artists playing all over the town, it was a great day.
