Beddy visits… The Humber Bridge

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Today I have been to The Humber Bridge which is in the North East of England. It is the fifth largest bridge in the world. It connects the Humber on the north bank to the East Riding of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

The bridge was built in 1972 and carries an average of 120,000 vehicles per week. Did you know that there is enough wire in the suspension cables of the bridge to circle the Earth nearly twice?

Beddy visits… Wembley Stadium

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Today has been really exciting because I went to Wembley Stadium which is England’s national stadium and home of our national football club! Wembley Stadium is based in London in the South of UK. Did you know that Wembley Stadium is the second largest stadium in Europe?

The stadium has a retractable roof which can open and close depending on the weather. In 2012 it will also host the football finals of the London Olympics. Besides football, Wembley is also used to hold music concerts and has hosted Madonna, Coldplay, Take That and Oasis.
