Beddy visits… London!

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

I have been all the way to London today! It was so interesting. Did you know that London is the capital city of England? Can you guess who lives in London? Why, the Queen of course! She lives at Buckingham Palace!

London is a very popular place to visit because of its landmarks, museums and culuture including Trafalgar Square, The Natural History Museum and The London Eye.

People travel around the city on The London Underground which is basically a train which travels under the ground!

Beddy visits… Edinburgh Castle!

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Today, I have been up to Scotland so I took a trip to Edinburgh Castle. It is thought that Edinburgh Castle was built in the 12th Century, which is over 800 years ago! The castle stands at the top of an extinct volcano, which is estimated to have risen some 350 million years ago.

Edinburgh Castle has been involved in many historical wars, from the Wars of Scottish Independence in the 14th Century, up to the Jacobite Rising of 1745, and has been attacked on several occasions.

Today, Edinburgh Castle is Scotland’s second most popular tourist attraction and has become a recognisable symbol of Edinburgh, and of Scotland.
