LinQy vists…The London Eye

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

Yesterday my cousin LinQy went on the London Eye! For those of you who don’t know, this is a Ferris wheel, on in our capital.

LinQy told me that it is 135 metres high, and that the wheel is 120 metres wide! This is huge!

He also said that more than 3 million people go on it each year, and it is the 20th highest structure in all of London!

It sounded brilliant, and I would like to go on it myself when I have the chance.

Beddy visits…Wookey Hole

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

Today I visited Wookey Hole Caves, these are named after the village, Wookey Hole, which is in Somerset, England.

They are amazing! They were made by a river, which ran through the stone and created some really great caves.

There is also a rock that looks like a person, called the Witch of Wookey hole. There is a legend that this was a real witch that a monk turned to stone.

If you don’t believe me, go and see for yourself!

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

Yesterday LinQy went to the Eden Project. This is an environmental project in Cornwall, and it is the amazing set of greenhouses that you can see on the picture. The domes are called Biomes, and they recreate different climates., such as the Tropics, the Rainforest, and another warm temperate atmosphere. LinQy said that the Eden Project was really amazing! He saw alot of plants and wildlife, and would definitely recommend it!

Beddy and LinQy visit…Sherwood Forest

Wednesday, November 7th, 2012

Today, LinQy and I visited Sherwood Forest, in Nottinghamshire. This forest is well know, it is said that an outlaw called Robin Hood lived there a long time ago. Robin Hood was infamous for stealing gold and treasure from the rich, to give to the poor. He was helped by his Merry Men, fellow outlaws who lived with him in the Forest. Their enemy was the Sherri ff of Nottingham, who was very powerful. Richard the Lionheart was the king, but he was overseas fighting wars called The Crusades. Whilst he was away, his brother John was on the throne, and this was the regime that inspired Robin Hood to try and restore order to England.
