The Lake District is such a beautiful place to visit, I’m lucky to be delivering here today.
The Lake District is home to 4 mountains and about 50 lakes and tarns including England’s biggest Lake, Lake Windermere and England’s deepest Lake, Lake Wastwater. The Lake District was carved out by glaciers over 15,000 years ago.
Many people come here to take in the scenery and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the tranquil backdrop whilst they take a steady stroll.
If I came back again I’d have to come for at least a week so I could take full advantage of everything the Lake District has to offer.

Today I’m delivering to the historic town of Whitby. The town is famous for being the birth place for the horror story Dracula. The story was written by the famous author Bram Stoker who holidayed in the fishing town, and took inspiration from the dramatic scenery around him.
The great explorer Captain James Cook began his seaman training in Whitby. Cook began the life of a sailor on the Freelove in February 1747, carrying a cargo of coal from Whitby to London. He went on to be one of the most famous early explorers travelling all over the world. There is a museum dedicated to Cook in Whitby, which I visited to learn about his adventures.

I’m on the East coast of England today in Wallsend in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. A very famous British wall runs through this town.
For 400 years Britain was ruled by the Great Roman Empire, most Britions were happy to live their lives the Roman way but people from the North were not as open to the idea. More than 1,800 years ago the Romans built Hadrians wall which was used to monitor the activities of people entering and leaving England and Scotland. All who lived inside the wall were believed to be Romans and all outside were viewed as barbarians.
The wall stretched 73 miles from one side of the country right across to the other. It was 15 feet high and 10 feet wide, some of the wall can still be seen today. The wall is such an amazing site I love learning about the history of our country.

This week my cousin LinQy has been out on a school visit to Drighlington Primary School. He told me the boys and girls were so well behaved and listened to everything they were told.
Whilst he was there LinQy educated the children about the importance of road safety, especially around big trucks like us, the children were great at answering questions about road safety.
All of the children had an insight into the world from a driver’s birds eye view, they got to sit in the cab and some even got to blast LinQy’s horn!
LinQy had such a great time with the children and is excited for his next school visit.

Today I’ve been to the county of Wiltshire, whilst I was here I decided to visit the prehistoric monument Stonehenge, it’s one of the most famous sites in the world.
There are many ideas on when Stonehenge was first erected and who erected it as there were no written records many theories have been suggested. Most people believe that people first started building it over 5,000 years ago by dragging the stones into place. These days the monument belongs to the crown who at this present moment is Queen Elizabeth II.
There are many reason people believe the monument was made some believe for spiritual reasons some believe for astrology, but the mystery of Stonehenge for now will remain a mystery.
I think Stonehenge is an interesting and beautiful place to visit, I hope I get to come back here again.

Stoke on Trent was the birth place to Captain Edward John Smith. He was the captain of one of the worlds most famous ships the RMS Titanic. The Titanic was the largest passenger ship of her time and was deemed “virtually unsinkable” but on Sunday April 14th 1912 at 23.40pm The RMS Titanic hit an iceberg, within a few hours the Titanic had sunk to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.
One of the most famous stories surrounding the Titanic was the ships band played on as the ship was sinking trying to calm the passengers they stayed with the ship until the end. These men were very brave, I hope all of you are celebrating the maiden voyage and terrible short life of the RMS Titanic this week as it celebrates its 100th anniversary.

I am excited to announce the winner of my mumsnet competition is Charlotte Dennis, from Staplehurst in Tonbridge. Charlotte is delighted to have won the family set of bikes and safety equipment. She will be taking to the road with her husband Calvin and her two sons Sam aged 12 and George aged 6. I hope they have lots of fun out and about spending quality family time together on the bikes. Enjoy them and stay safe on the roads.

Today I’m making deliveries in North Yorkshire, so while I’m here I thought I’d visit the Wensleydale cheese factory. I was very lucky to be able to watch a demonstration of how the farmers make the cheese. The cheese is made form recipes handed down from generation to generation, the factory keeps with tradition when it comes to making the cheese as a lot of the procedure is done by hand. I’ve bought a selection of cheeses there were so many to choose from, some had fruit in them, some spices and some smelt really cheesy.
On my way out of Wensleydale I saw a beautiful castle on a hill called Bolton Castle. The castle is famous for its use as a prison for Mary Queen of Scots. But unfortunately I don’t have enough time to go visit it I’ve got deliveries to make.

Happy Easter everybody I hope the Easter bunny has left you lots of Easter eggs. We receive Easter eggs as the egg is a symbol of the start of new life, just as when the chick hatches out of the egg.
Easter is a very special event in the Christian diary. Christians are followers of Jesus Christ who lived about 2000 years ago. Christians believe that Jesus is the son of god, at Easter time Christians remember the last week of Jesus’ life.
I’ve got four days off delivering this week thanks to the Easter Holidays so I’m getting some much needed rest. Enjoy your Easter Holidays.

Today I popped along to Huddersfield to have a go at playing a game of Rugby League. The sport is very close to the people of Huddersfield’s hearts as it was where the sport evolved from Rugby Union. The town has a Rugby League team called the Huddersfield Giants who at the moment are 2nd in the Super League table.
Huddersfield is quite an old town that is well known for making cloth, maybe some of the material made to make your clothes came from Huddersfield. You can still see lots of the old textile mills as you travel around the city, some of them are very beautiful.
